Forrest Hills Wedding of Emma & Phil

I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely wedding last weekend for a great couple Phil & Emma. It seems an age since I was booked by them, probably 18 months prior to the date. Over that period we met a few times, for an engagement shoot and a couple of meetings, so I got to know the couple quite well, which enabled us all to be comfortable with each other, and allowed us to get some great shots.

The day didn't start off the greatest, Morecambe didn't "Bring Me Sunshine" it was wet, very wet! This didn't dampen the brides spirit, she was upbeat, and looking forward to her Special Day.

The service was at Lancaster Cathedral, which whilst being a fantastic building, offers a challenge to a photographer due to the light. I stood close to the alter to get close up shots of the couple, and I had a second photographer up in the Gods where the choir normally sits. We still managed to get some great shots, pushing our cameras to the limit of their low light capabilities.

We took the decision with the bride and groom to keep shots at the Cathedral to a minimum, instead deciding to get some great shots at the reception venue, Forrest Hills, close to Lancaster University.

This venue as it says on it's website is a "hidden gem", when you arrive at Forrest Hills you are struck by the unusual architecture of the building which lends itself to capturing some memorable wedding shots for the happy couple.

The rain finally gave up, and we managed to get the obligatory group shots of the wedding party and close family, again with the stunning backdrop of the lake at Forrest Hills, before having a leisurely walk around the grounds with the couple, giving me a wealth of options to get some great shots for Emma and Phil to Cherish.
